  • Oklahoma and West Texas -- October 19, 2005
    We paid approximately $104 million to Kerr-McGee for properties in the Anadarko Basin of Oklahoma and the Permian Basin of West Texas. The properties are about 98% operated and 94% oil by reserves.
  • Anadarko Basin and Williston Basin -- August 22, 2005
    We paid approximately $123 million to a group of private sellers for properties in Eastern Montana and Western Oklahoma. The properties are about 65% natural gas by production.
  • Overton Field -- June 17, 2004
    We paid approximately $83 million to a group of private sellers for interests in Overton Field located in Smith County, Texas. The properties are 100% operated and are about 94% natural gas by production.
  • Cortez Oil and Gas, Inc. -- April 14, 2004
    We paid approximately $127 million to acquire the stock of privately held Cortez Oil & Gas, Inc. With assets in the Cedar Creek Anticline, the Permian Basin, and the Mid Continent area, the acquisition enhances each of Encore's core areas. The properties are 80% operated and 55% natural gas by reserves.
  • Paradox Basin -- May 1, 2002
    We paid approximately $17 million to Chieftain International, Inc. for the Paradox Basin properties. The two principal non-operated properties are the Ratherford Unit operated by Exxon Mobil and the Aneth Unit operated by ChevronTexaco. These southeast Utah fields are located in San Juan County.
  • Elm Grove Field -- July 31, 2003
    We paid approximately $53 million to private sellers for properties in Elm Grove Field located in the North Louisiana Salt Basin. The acquired natural gas properties include non-operated working interests ranging from 2% to 38% across 1,800 net acres in 15 sections.
  • Permian Basin -- January 1, 2002
    We paid approximately $50 million to Conoco for the Permian Basin properties. The two principal operated properties are the East Cowden Grayburg and the Fuhrman Nix fields, and the non-operated properties are the Yates and North Cowden fields. These West Texas fields are located in Ector, Andrews, Crockett and Pecos Counties.
  • Bell Creek -- November 29, 2000
    We acquired the Bell Creek properties from Richardson Production Company for approximately $6 million. The Bell Creek assets are located in Powder River and Carter counties in Montana. We operate seven production units, each with 100% working interest.
  • Indian Basin/Verden -- August 24, 2000
    The Indian Basin/Verden properties were acquired from Pioneer Natural Resources USA, Inc. for approximately $25 million. The Indian Basin assets are located in the Permian Basis of New Mexico and are 100% non-operated and 97% natural gas. The Verden assets are located in the Anadarko Basis of Oklahoma and are 75% non-operated and 90% natural gas.
  • Lodgepole -- March 31, 2000
    We paid Burlington Resources Oil & Gas Company approximately $35 million for the Lodgepole property in North Dakota.
  • Crockett County -- March 30, 2000
    We paid approximately $43 million to XTO Energy Inc., formerly Cross Timbers Oil Company, to purchase the Crockett County, Texas properties. We have acquired additional working interests for $0.5 million subsequent to the initial acquisition.
  • Cedar Creek Anticline (CCA) -- June 1, 1999
    We paid approximately $172 million to Shell Western E&P, Inc. and Shell Onshore Ventures, Inc. to acquire the CCA properties. This gave us operating control of the CCA with an average working interest of approximately 78%. Subsequently, we acquired additional working interests from various owners in July and October 1999 for a combined price of approximately $22 million, which increased our average working interest to its current level of approximately 87%.
